So we poured every effort into making a long-lasting, highly pigmented vegan, and cruelty-free nail polish that stays on so you can stay natural.
Say hello to Nature Strong, our first-ever natural origin nail lacquer. No compromises are required. Along with this exciting news, we know you have questions–does it last? What is its impact on the environment? What’s in it? So, we’re breaking it down one by one.
What does “natural origin” mean?
Good question. Our formula is up to 75% natural origin. This means the classic lacquer ingredients that make up that portion of our formula are derived from nature instead of synthetic origins. This includes both plant and mineral-derived ingredients. We only include cosmetic ingredients with greater than 50% natural origin in our calculation which is done to the best of our knowledge in accordance with ISO standard 16128 (part 1 and part 2).
Is it a 9-free* nail polish and what does 9-free mean?
You bet. This is a big one and something we really care about. 9-free* nail polish means a nail lacquer is formulated without that extra stuff you may not want in your polish or on your nails. Our “9” refers to OPI Nature Strong being a Formaldehyde free nail polish, as well as it is without Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Xylene, Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Camphor, Parabens, Ethyl Tosylamide, and Triphenyl Phosphate, and we intentionally chose not to include animal-derived ingredients towards our 9-free* count (which brought us to 10) because it’s a characteristic, not a chemical, but you can trust our Vegan Society certification that we are also free of animal-derived ingredients and that OPI Nature Strong is a cruelty-free nail polish.
Without the same ingredients of a regular nail lacquer, does it perform the same?
We hear this question a lot and the answer is yes. There are a lot of lacquers on the market that are natural but don’t hold up, which can be a major letdown, so it was important to us that Nature Strong delivers the same performance you love in our original Nail Lacquer. This formula still contains natural origin nitrocellulose for adhesion and offers up to 7 days of wear and shine without fading, goes on easily, and dries fast. Yes, yes, and yes.
How many shades are there?
There are 30 brand-new shades that offer a range of neutral earth tones, bright pops of color, and bold, timeless hues in crème formulas and shimmers. Every shade was inspired by what we love about nature and will empower you to take on the world. And that’s not all, we created an optional Top Coat designed to add extra shine and protection to your manis and pedis.
What are the natural ingredients?
The non-GMO formula is made up of good-for-you plant and mineral-based ingredients like sugar cane, wheat, corn, and clay. Check out our ingredient story for even more information on what’s inside each bottle.
Is it sustainably packaged?
Nature Strong’s bottle and cap is made with 20% PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastic, which means it’s made with recycled materials. We didn’t add any additional bleaching so you’ll notice that every cap looks unique–there are imperfections like swirls of color or melted grey plastic which creates a taupe-like color that looks slightly different across each bottle.
